Find the truth through "Inception"

Izakaya is 2.5D adventure game on PC made by Unity.

 

The core game mechanic combines restaurant simluation and puzzle-solving together. Player wakes up in a situation without any memory (background information) and starts the story. All the things are waiting for player finding out. The idea of restaurant simulation is inspired by a Japanese novel Shin'ya Shokudo (Midnight Diner). With the communications with NPCs, player will know the story gradually through these fragmented narratives. On each day, one or several special guests will come for some special dishes. Once player satisfies their requests, a converstion with important information will be sent to player, which is very helpful for puzzle-solving part. Meanwhile, the currency system keeps player purchasing and preparing the suitable amount of ingredients for next day.

 

As for the puzzle-solving, player will have dreams randomly after each day's restaurant management. Actually, player is "teleported" to a new world with subconscious, which is also based on the conversations with those special guests. In these dreams, player needs to investigate more information or trigger some strange scenes, which will bring changes and hints to the "real" world, helping player to get closer to the truth. This game mechanic will become a loop through the whole gameplay.
